Veterans’ Day Event

Our High Country Chapter MOAA conducted it’s 17 Annual Veterans’ Day event at Boone Mall on November 11th . We were pleased to see the response from over 350 of our community veterans, their families and and our dedicated patriotic residents. We were honored, again, to have the Watauga Community Band, and our MOAA members, all supported by the Boone Mall-H.L. Libby Corp. Special thanks to the 10 sponsors of the program that made it all happen. This Veterans’ Day Guest Speaker was CAPT Jim Fisher, USN Chaplain’s Corp(Ret). CAPT Fisher discussed the “importance of recognizing the need , and significance of common memories within the context of our community”. Our Veterans’ Day program is an occasion that corrects”Cultural Amnesia” and reminds us of what we have asked of our young men and women to sacrifice, both in the past, present and in the future. Our program concluded with the singing of “God Bless America” by young Micah Lewis.
